Camping and Staying on-site FAQ

When can I arrive on Friday to get set up?

People with camping tickets can arrive from 10am on Friday. Friday day-ticket attendees can access the site from 2pm when the music program starts. We will also allow entry to camping up to 10pm on Friday, for those travelling down after work. Day ticket holders on Friday must be on-site by 7:00 p.m.

What time do I have to leave on Monday?

You’ll need to be packed up and gone by midday, as we’ll be setting free the rabid badgers which normally inhabit the lush pasture where you’re camping. That, and we need to clean up.

How is the camping field laid out?

It’s a BIG field, so there is plenty of space. At the top end is the section for campervans, motorhomes, etc, as well as a dedicated section for accessible camping – this is the flattest part of the camping field. A fire lane separates the motorhomes from the tents section, though you can move about freely throughout the campsite if you have a camping wristband. Things will be clearly signposted; we like signs, so please read them and follow the instructions.

How far is camping from the car park?

It's no more than 500 meters away, but don’t worry! We’re setting up a dedicated drop-off area, so you can drive up, unload your camping gear from your car right next to the tent camping section, then move your car to the car park. The same system will operate in reverse on Sunday evening and Monday morning, so you don’t have to haul your stuff miles, because that sucks and who needs that?

Is parking included?

If you bought a motorhome/caravan ticket, you’re parking is included. If you bought a camping ticket, you’ll need to purchase a parking ticket as well. These can be purchased in advance from our Skiddle page, or payment can be made on arrival.

Can I leave the site and come back?

Yes, you can leave the site at any time, but you can only re-enter during the published site entry times. Please note that you can only bring alcohol onto the site on your first entry to camping. There are several bars available on site, offering beverages at very reasonable prices.

How much beer or booze can I bring into the campsite?

When camping, each person is allowed to bring a maximum (and realistic) of 24 cans of alcoholic beverages (beer, cider, or wine, which can be mixed) and 1 litre of spirit or wine in a plastic bottle or box per person. It's essential to note that alcohol is not permitted in the festival area, and all alcohol brought into the campsite must be in plastic containers; no glass bottles are allowed. Please also note that you can only bring alcohol on the site on your first entry; security will not permit you to get additional alcohol on re-entry.

Can I take my drink from camping to the music arena?

No, no fluids can be taken from camping to the arena. Several bars are available on site, offering reasonably priced beverages. As with most small festivals, bar revenue is make-or-break for us. We’ve priced it reasonably, but we need you to buy from the bar; please support us.

What about Fires, Barbeques and naked flames?

No personal fires, disposable or portable barbeques are permitted. They are a significant fire risk. You can use portable gas or solid fuel cooking stoves in camping. Please observe safety precautions and do not leave these items unattended whilst in use. You can, of course, use any fixed cooking equipment in your motorhome/caravan. A communal fire pit will be available exclusively for use by camping wristband holders.

Camping Security

Our campsite is located separately from the music arena, and a manned security checkpoint will be in place at the entrance to the campsite. Only wristband holders for camping can enter the designated camping area. This ensures the security of our guests, but as always, please ensure you do not leave valuables lying around or in your tent when camping at a festival. Secure your stuff!

I heard a rumour about camping exclusives? What are they?

We’ve got a few exclusive things for you! Those staying on-site will be able to enjoy an exclusive silent disco in the Wellness tent after the music program finishes. Don’t forget to stock up on drinks from the bar before 11 to keep you going, though! Additionally, we’re providing a communal fire pit with seating for those camping, offering a little after-hours wind-down and socialising.

Prohibited Items on-site (including camping)

Disposable BBQs, Drugs or narcotics, except those for which a valid prescription can be demonstrated, NOS canisters, balloons, etc., Glass bottles, containers or glass of any kind, Knives, weapons or similar items, Megaphones (yes, we mean you, Lynda)

Do you provide accessible camping?

We are committed to supporting all our guests. Accessible camping and facilities will be provided, and a complimentary PA ticket is available where needed. Please contact us at info@timescapefestival.com with your accessibility requirements.

Waste Management

Our small team of Waste Warriors, segregate the waste after it’s been collected so that we can maximise on recycling! We have re-usable cups which also help us to reduce our environmental impact. Please use the dustbins provided and be respectful of your surroundings. Smokers - please don’t thrown cigarette ends on the ground if possible, it’s a fire hazard and they are very hard to find especially in the grass and woodland. Containers are dotted around the venue for the disposal of cigarettes. Portable ashtrays are a good shout.

Travel and Local Info

Staying Locally?

The nearest big town is Huntingdon, just a short taxi ride away from Abbots Ripton. For those not camping, there are many hotels and Airbnb options available, including:

  • Holiday Inn Racecourse, Huntingdon
  • Delta Hotels (Marriott), Huntingdon
  • Premier Inn (A1/A14), Huntingdon (note: this is at motorway services)

Travel to and from the Venue

By Train: The nearest train station is Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire – a mainline route to London with easy airport access. Grab a taxi from the station.

By Air: Both Stanstead and Luton airports have train links to Huntingdon. Trains run at least every hour, and it takes about an hour from Stanstead, or a little longer from Luton.

Coming by Car

Use the site postcode **PE28 2PH**.

From the North: The A1(M) passes by Huntingdon; you're at the venue in about 10 minutes once you leave the A1.
From the West: We recommend the M6/A14 from Birmingham, or the Oxford/M40/A14/A43 route if coming from Bristol.
From the South: The A1(M) is your friend once you’ve left London.
From the East: Routes via A11/A14 or A47 work well.
From Orbit: Once you’ve cleared the atmosphere and slowed down, listen for the music – just try not to land on anyone’s tent!

Parking

On-site parking is available. If you’re a Motorhome/Campervan/Caravan owner, parking is included with your ticket. Others can purchase a parking pass in advance or on arrival.

Drop Off/Pick Up

A designated drop off and pick up area will be located by the main vehicle entrance for taxi collections or lift drop-offs.
